Liquefied gases
Liquefied gases may have a homogeneous composition or be a mixture of gases converted to liquid by compression or cooling.
Liquefied gases are used in everyday life. Liquid propane and liquefied hydrocarbon gas, consisting of a mixture of propane and butane, are used to heat homes and businesses, to refuel personal vehicles and ships. Refrigerants (freons) are used in air conditioners and refrigeration units, and ammonia is used in the agricultural industry as a fertilizer.
